GWS Giants vs Sydney Swans

Saturday July 15, 7:25pm AEST – Spotless Stadium

Loyal readers are probably sick of us taking on the Giants but it’s a winning strategy. When the Giants are favourite, as they are currently, they’ve only covered the line once in nine matches.

The Swans, meanwhile, have won eight of their last nine. They dominated the Suns last week even without Josh Kennedy. We anticipate the captain returning this week and think the Swans will start as favourites by Saturday. The Betfair Model agrees, making the Swans $1.94.

Even though the Giants are undefeated at Spotless and should get some big names back, they’re still comparatively underdone. The Swans are in irrepressible form and are value at the current odds.

Richmond Tigers vs Brisbane Lions

Sunday July 16, 1:10pm AEST – Etihad Stadium

Richmond have beaten Brisbane 10 times in a row. It’s potentially the most dominant matchup in the AFL. They even beat the Lions by 52 points at the Gabba earlier this year, despite big games from Rockliff, Zorko, Beams and Stefan Martin. Additionally, Brisbane kept a goalless Dustin Martin to 16 disposals.

Not good signs for the Lions. Even when they play encouraging football they can lose by huge margins. That was on display last week as well. They had some brilliant passages of play against the Cats, particularly through Dayne Zorko, but they still lost by 85 points.

Richmond should bury last week’s loss with a dominant display at Etihad.

Fremantle Dockers vs West Coast Eagles

Sunday July 16, 4:40pm AEST – Domain Stadium

West Coast have had Fremantle’s measure in recent derbies, winning the last four. However, their odds are short for a team that was beaten by 32 points at home last week. The Eagles have lost three of their last four at Domain and this week is a Fremantle home crowd.

The Dockers haven’t been any more convincing with only one win in their last five. Although, they should take confidence from last week’s win in Melbourne. Nat Fyfe was back to his best with 33 disposals and was supported by the Dockers depth of Walters, Neale, Blakely and the Hill brothers.

With finals spots on offer we’re anticipating a highly competitive game and like the nearly three-goal line for the Dockers.

Betting Strategy

BACK – Fremantle +14.5
