Sydney FC v Melbourne Victory

Friday March 3, 7:50pm

Match Overview

Sydney bounced back after their shock derby loss easing past City 3-1. The score may have been slightly flattering after the match was reasonably even prior to the send-off of Manny Muscat after 39 minutes. They will be at full strength and looking to all but secure the Premiers Plate, a draw would suffice but don’t think for a minute they will not go out in an attacking mind.

Victory took a long while to get going in the 2-1 win over Adelaide last week. They should have won more handsomely however they also had plenty of alarming moments. They have spoken long and hard of their belief that the race for the Premiers plate is not over.

This will be a full-blooded affair tempered only by the likely poor conditions. I expect both teams to employ a very high press and it will be the team that can play through it that will seize the initiative.

Western Sydney Wanderers v Adelaide United

Saturday March 4, 7:50pm

Match Overview

Both teams come off last start losses and tough trips to China midweek when again they were both defeated. Adelaide were impressive in parts in both those matches and the addition of both Baba Diwara and Kim Jaesung has seen them much improved in the last few matches.

The Wanderers were dreadful both last weekend and in midweek and look bereft of confidence. They have yet to win at Homebush this season but are still clinging onto sixth position and after such a poor start to the ACL perhaps this is where they will focus their attentions.

Statistics Comment

Not much to say. The Wanderers are a little better in a couple of stats however neither has much to brag about.

Betting Strategy

BACK – Under 2.5 goals at 1.9+ for 1.5 units

LAY – Western Sydney up to 2.0 for a risk of 1.5 units
