Adelaide United v Perth Glory

Friday February 10, 7:50pm AEDT

Match Overview

Adelaide will be lining up for their third match in succession with 30°+ which will work in their favour. However, they still sit bottom of the table and thanks to the 1-2 loss to Central Coast last week they are now five points behind the Mariners in second last. The “wooden spoon” is starting to look a little inevitable when you take into account they now face four extra matches (ACL) between now and the end of the season and must do without keeper Eugene Galekovic for the next month. Last season they won just one of seven that he didn’t play. Isais is also out this week.

Perth’s results continue to yo-yo with a good win against the Jets last week coming on the back of an awful display against the Mariners. They certainly perform better at home, winning just one of nine on the road this season. They regain keeper Liam Reddy for this clash and possibly Alex Grant to stiffen up the defence.

Statistics Comment

Interestingly Perth rank well below Adelaide defensively however they are much more potent in attack. Adelaide may yet find those scoring boots but it has been 18 matches thus far without much of a hint of it.

Betting Strategy

Diego Castro will be the difference.

Newcastle Jets v Melbourne Victory

Monday February 13, 7:50pm AEDT

Match Overview

Newcastle were good in their 2-3 loss to Perth last week with Andrew Hoole and Andrew Nabbout again starring in attack. Wayne Brown will start this week and they are close to full strength.

Melbourne Victory came from behind to beat City 2-1 in a heated Derby after themselves leading but losing to Sydney FC. They were two huge clashes back to back and whilst they won’t like to admit it they are vulnerable to a let-down in this match.

Statistics Comment

The Jets have suffered defensively due to key injuries all season rather than any structural issues. As noted previously the Victory are far too reliant on an incredible shots-on conversion rate.

Betting Strategy

LAY – Melbourne Victory up to 2.10 for a risk of 2 units
