Newcastle Jets v Melbourne City

Friday January 27, 7:50pm AEDT

Match Overview

A match being played at the neutral(-ish) venue of Coffs Harbour where they will be expecting to smash the ground record of 12,000 given Tim Cahill is in town.

Newcastle were slightly unlucky to lose 0-2 at Western Sydney coping reasonably well with some major outs. Two of those, Andrew Hoole and Morten Njordstrand are key inclusions however they will still miss a couple of regular first team players.

Melbourne City have been off the boil and whilst they dominated the statistics v the Mariners posting a total of 26 shots to 2 they still managed the narrow 2-1 win. They have all their stars available but have yet to cope with the loss of Aaron Mooy in the off-season.

Central Coast Mariners v Perth Glory

Saturday January 28, 5:35pm AEDT

Match Overview

Central Coast have picked up one point from their last seven matches since beating this weekend’s opponents 2-0 at Gosford. They were very lucky that day to face a team who lost Josh Risdon in warm-up and Diego Costa after just 13 mins. Roy O’Donovan is suspended taking away plenty of their attacking threat.

Perth are on the up having not lost in five since being dismantled by Sydney culminating in a strong 2-1 win over Victory on the weekend. Captain Rostyn Griffiths again misses out through suspension however he was well covered from last week so it shouldn’t be an issue. Watch for another big game from striker Adam Taggart.
