FUTURITY STAKES racing tips
Track: Caulfield | Distance: 1400m | Condition: Weight-for-age | Rail Position: +3m Entire | Condition: Good 4 | Prizemoney: $750,000
No rain forecast. 23-24 degrees forecast for Thursday/Friday, and 27 degrees for Saturday. Track should play well and remain a Good 4. Fence may not be the place to be on Saturday, but that gives the vast majority of horses their chance and is substantially better and fairer than the alternative at Caulfield when the fence is on fire and only a handful of runners in each race can win.
Won in recent years by some top sprinter/milers including Probabeel, Brave Smash, Turn Me Loose, Suavito, Moment Of Change and All Too Hard.
The class on pacers often win here. Orr Stakes winners have a good record in this race, which make sense given they are the exact same conditions.
SPEED MAP RACING TIPS
Fast early speed engaged despite the small field with Turaath, Streets Of Avalon and Tofane all on speed runners. Mounga and Mr Mozart should settle midfield. Sierra Sue, Extreme Flight and I’m Thunderstruck will be out the back waiting to swoop.
KEY RUNNERS + RACING TIPS
1. I’m Thuderstruck
I’m Thunderstruck – Star 4yo with 6 wins and 2 placings from 10 starts. Was an unlucky 3rd in the G1 Sir Rupert Clarke last prep before winning the Toorak Handicap & the Golden Eagle. Was solid first up in the Orr when not wound up. Being set for the All Star Mile. Will get a long way back here and may need another run before finding peak.
Has a strong fresh up record and won the Winx G1 first up last prep. In the mix.
Consistent multiple G1 winning mare who won comfortably first up in the Orr leading all the way. Won’t get as easy a time in front here with more speed engaged from Turaath and Streets Of Avalon, but has won G1 races off the speed so should be no issue.
5. Sierra Sue
Underrated mare. Has had three runs this track/distance for 2 wins, at G2 and G1 level, and a solid 4th in the Orr last start. In the mix again.
Won 4 in a row last prep culminating in a G2 win at Flemington. Solid 3rd first up at Moonee Valley. Will be on pace and can give this a shake.
The market looks to have this race just about right. No official bet for this race, but would consider laying I’m Thunderstruck if it stays at its current quote under $4.
