Queen of the Turf Stakes Betting Odds

This Group 1, weight for age race has 3 year old fillies and mares competing on the 1500 meter turf track at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse. The Queen of the Turf Stakes was held this year on April 4, 2009 and the winner of the $AUD 400,000 prize money was Neroli ridden by Darren Beadman under the guidance of trainer Peter Snowden. Neroli beat out favorite Hot Danish by three quarters of a length and the third place horse, Imananabaa, by one and one half lengths.

Peter Snowden also trained the horse Purple who was ridden by jockey Kerrin McEvoy earlier that day in the Vinery Studs Storm Queen Stakes, which made it quite the day for Peter. He is the head trainer for Sheikh Mohammed's Darley Australia since late 2007, and has a history of training winning race horses. He had hoped the win at Rosehill Gardens would take Neroli through to a win at the Doncaster handicap race at Randwick racecourse in Sydney on April 18, 2009, but came in 5th with Kerrin McEvoy riding Neroli, with the race taken by the horse Vision and Power and jockey Jim Cassidy. Peter also won with Forensics ridden by Danny Nikolic at the 2008 running of the Queen of the Turf Stakes.
